Girls’ hockey in the Prep School has gone from strength to strength this term and it is encouraging to see the younger girls getting to grips with the game and winning a few matches too. The U13’s had a tough time playing against larger schools who are fortunate enough to train on a full sized-astro but, despite this,

Dorset House had some notable wins against Lancing Prep at Worthing, Seaford, Christ’s Hospital and Windlesham. The U13 hockey tour to the Isle of Wight was again a success and provided an opportunity to play schools outside our area. The older girls also had the opportunity to have an outside hockey coach take their session on two occasions at the beginning of the season which proved very beneficial.  The Most Improved U13B Player was awarded to Viola Rowell and the U13B Player of the Season to Katie Athron. The Most Improved U13A Player was awarded to Lilia Gosden and the U13A Player of the Season to Orla Williamson. The U11’s have played some superb hockey this season and their greatest achievements were getting to the semi-finals in the Lancing Hockey Tournament and finishing as runners-up in their group in the IAPS Hockey Championships. They also beat Pennthorpe and drew against St. Christopher’s, which were pleasing results.  The team ended the season on a high with a great result at the Windlesham Hockey tournament where they were runners-up. A special mention goes to Matilda Simpson who has developed into an excellent goalkeeper and who has stepped up to play for the U13B’s on many occasions. The Most Improved U11 Player was awarded to Matilda Simpson and the U11 Player of the Season to Alice Crowley.  The U10’s have had fewer opportunities to play hockey matches this term but had a great win against Pennthorpe. They have, however, played a number of netball matches which will hopefully prepare them for fixtures after Christmas.  The U10 Most Improved Player was awarded to Brooke Meurer and the U10 Player of the Season to Lauren Wilkins. The U9’s had a slow start to their season but have made huge improvements to their game and finished the term with two wins and a draw. The Most Improved U9 Player was awarded to Eva Elliott and the U9 Player of the Season to Bella Crowley.
