WELCOME TO Dorset House School
"...this is a school that really does empower"
(Tatler Schools Guide)

Welcome

At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired.  We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.

Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.

Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.

Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.

Prospective parents often comment on the warmth of this school and if that is something which is important to your family, please call to make an appointment to visit us.  We look forward to meeting you.

Information

We have been blown away by the warmth, devotion and dedication of your staff and you have all given our daughter the best possible start.

Parent

You are providing a wholesome and nurturing education that a lot of schools say they provide but the reality is not everyone can do it as well.

Parent

It’s Local, it’s outstanding in its facilities and teaching, it’s beautiful, and small enough to care…

…..the kids absolutely love the place and you get the feeling that the staff love working there. That’s golden.

The core values of DH are what most people want for their child. It’s a kind and gentle place…it encourages and nurtures, and your child is a valued member of the whole school

Everybody gets a go….and Art, Drama and music are given tremendous focus…

Parents reckon this is a school that really does empower

We do like to bring history to life at Dorset House and this week, Year 1 were treated to a visit from Samuel Pepys and King Charles II as the @rainbow.theatrelondon came to visit to teach them a little about the plague in 1665 and the great fire of London in 1666.
All the children joined in singing London's Burning and acting out different events with the actors. The children were delighted to meet their visitors and went home full of tales from the 17th century!
We couldn't resist sharing a few shots of our Pre-Prep open classrooms. The children were so proud of their work and of all the delicious dishes they made for their parents.
If you would like to see Dorset House for yourself, we can't promise more Sushi at our Open Morning on Friday 14th March, but we can promise a warm welcome and our Year 8 guides, who are looking forward to showing our visitors their school.
For information please call us on 01798 831456 or email sobrien@dorsethouseschool.com
We are so proud of our showjumping team who competed in the freezing cold at the NSEA Regional Championships.
We now have our own Regional Champion!
Tiggy in Year 8 won the 50cm class while Archie C in Year 2 came 7th in the same class.
The 40cm competitors had a great day with Iyla in Reception coming 3rd individually and the team of Archie, Iyla and Ophelia (Year 1) coming 8th.
What amazing achievements and it is so good to know that the future of the DH team looks so rosy.
Thanks to Charlotte Crumley for looking after the team so well
