At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired.  We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.

Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.

Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.

Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.

As we head into the start of a new school year this week, we wanted to wish our wonderful Year 8 Class of 2026 the very best as they begin their next chapter at senior school.

What an incredible group of young people you are. You will be very missed at DH, but we know you’ll take the friendships, confidence and sense of community you’ve built here with you.

Keep being kind, keep being curious, keep looking out for one another and, most importantly, keep being the very best you can be.

What better way to hear about what children at DH love about boarding than from the boarders themselves.

The wonderfully sunny weather last term meant plenty of time outside, with cricket and games on the pitches and lots of swimming in the pool.

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to DH next week, with a brilliant new programme of boarding activities planned by our Housemaster, Mr Marconi. Alongside our regular sports and games, there’ll be dance, cookery, Band Project, GeoDinoPalaeontologyRocks Club, Are You Game!? and our new swimming and supper evenings at @lancing_college

Lots for our boarders to look forward to this autumn!
