WELCOME TO Dorset House School
PART OF THE LANCING COLLEGE FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
Welcome
At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.
Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.
Prospective parents often comment on the warmth of this school and if that is something which is important to your family, please call to make an appointment to visit us. We look forward to meeting you.

Year 6 history trip to Arundel 🏰
A walking tour through history with Mr Weaver, who grew up in the area and brought the town’s stories to life.
Winding up and down Arundel’s many hills, clipboards at the ready to answer questions as they walked, passing @arundelcastleuk , the Cathedral Church of Our Lady and St Philip Howard and St Nicholas Church, alongside the old monastery, Market Square and stopping at Jubilee Gardens along the River Arun.
Along the way, the children explored how the river, a tidal route, once brought boats, goods and travellers inland, helping Arundel grow as a trading town.
At the @arundelmuseum they explored a wonderful display of artefacts, took part in a “guess the object” activity, completed a map drawing exercise and even had the chance to try playing a trumpet 🎺
A brilliant day of walking, learning and bringing history to life.
A couple of favourite facts from the day:
🍻 There were over 30 pubs in Arundel when it was once a busy port, catering for sailors passing through.
💣 Parliamentarian soldiers hoisted a cannon to the top of the bell tower at St Nicholas’ Church during the Civil War to fire at the castle.
Don’t miss the final clip 🎺

A great week back on the sports pitches in the sunshine 🏏
A strong day for our riders at the NSEA competition at @coombelands_equestrian with wins, placings and Nationals qualification secured.
Strong performances across cricket, including a 10-run win for Colts A, a draw for our U8 & 9s, and a half century in the senior matches, alongside great progress and confidence building across all year groups.
Our Year 5–8 girls also enjoyed a cricket training session at @lancing_college with Mr Gould, the new Head of Cricket and former Sussex CCC player, taking part in dynamic and fun drills and games.
A great first golf tournament of the season for our Year 8 boys at @windleshamhouse , alongside @lancingprep.worthing with the focus on enjoying the game and playing in great spirits ⛳️
A really positive start to the term, with plenty more to come 👏
Our next Open Morning will be in March 2026...
