WELCOME TO Dorset House School
PART OF THE LANCING COLLEGE FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
Welcome
At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.
Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.
Prospective parents often comment on the warmth of this school and if that is something which is important to your family, please call to make an appointment to visit us. We look forward to meeting you.

As term ended, we said `goodbye` to Matt Thomas who has been Headmaster at Dorset House since 2016.
Matt spoke to the whole school yesterday and described `DH` as a remarkable school where children are individual, relaxed, and confident and where children, staff and parents are part of a real community.
It is true that when people visit they always remark on how this school makes them feel.
We all wish Matt well as he joins @rydeschoolprep as their new Head from January and we thank him for all he has done at DH.
Oh, and to Amber of course who has been with Matt at the gate every morning - come rain or shine!
There was standing room only in the Barn for our Christmas Concert. Buskers kept the audience entertained beforehand whilst freshly baked mince pies and mulled wine were served.
Children from Year 3 to Year 8 took part with performances from choir, orchestra, singing and string groups, the Swing Band and of course solos as well.
Some staff joined the choir for Stopford`s `Lully, Lullay, Lulla` and Christmas jumpers were a must!
We are all looking forward to a more formal celebration at our Carol Service this evening.
Thank you to Ben, Marlowe, Lottie and Noah from Year 5 who have decorated a lovely Christmas tree in the waiting room at Pulborough Station.
Our next Open Morning will be in March 2026...
...but visitors are always welcome. Please call the school to arrange an appointment (01798 831456)
