WELCOME TO Dorset House School
PART OF THE LANCING COLLEGE FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
Welcome
At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.
Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.
Prospective parents often comment on the warmth of this school and if that is something which is important to your family, please call to make an appointment to visit us. We look forward to meeting you.

Less than 24 hours after last year’s Shakespeare play, our then Year 7 pupils were already asking if they could perform The Tempest and debating who would make the perfect Caliban!
Nine months later, after plenty of rehearsals, hard work and determination, they took to the stage for a fantastic performance. They embraced every challenge along the way and should all be incredibly proud of what they achieved.
The Year 8 Shakespeare play has become something of a rite of passage at Dorset House.
A special thank you to Mrs Hutchings for the dedication, creativity and care she has brought to the Year 8 Shakespeare productions over the years, helping make them one of our most treasured traditions.

Our Year 8 pupils arrived at their Leavers’ Dinner in style in a stretch limousine, ahead of a wonderful evening of celebration with staff, friends and families.
The evening began with drinks in the amphitheatre before everyone enjoyed a beautiful dinner on the terrace, complete with floral displays, balloons and white tablecloths, creating the perfect setting to mark the end of their Dorset House journey.
After supper, Head Boy Jack and Head Girl Annie, along with their fathers, gave heartfelt speeches, thanking the staff for everything they have done to make their time at Dorset House so memorable.
There was also a very special farewell to Ms Hutchings, who was presented with a Ninja ice cream maker from her Year 8 crew, all of whom know only too well her love of a blue sherbet Mr Whippy.
The guests were then ushered into the Barn, where they were treated to a moving film looking back on nine incredible years. As Ms Hutchings waved her wand and the curtain came down, there was hardly a dry eye in the room.
A truly magical evening and a wonderful way to celebrate a remarkable group of young people as they prepare for their next adventure.
