At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.

Dorset House has hosted the Bury Village Fête for many years and on Saturday 27th July, it looks like being a super event. Here is a message from the organisers...
With just a few days to go and the weather looks like it`s going to be perfect; come and join us at this wonderful village event. The Boutique has some stunning clothes, the bric-a-brac is bigger and better than ever, there`s Infinity Circus and Balloon Cart, plus our book stall, BBQ, bar, teas, cakes, coffees, the horticultural show, fabulous children`s clothes, an artisan wood stall and The Petworth Town Band, the list is endless! We look forward to seeing you.
News from Sweden!
Six DH Boys (Harry, Sam R, Sam C, Jack and Oscar from Y6 and Henry from Y8, (seen here out and about in the town), just spent a wonderful week in Gothenburg having been selected to play in the @gothiacup_official, The World Youth Cup (Football), for the Prep School Lions.
They were accompanied by an ardent troupe of parent cheerleaders who couldn`t resist the excitement of the sporting action coupled with the lure of a trip abroad!
The Y6 boys were narrowly defeated by a strong German side.
A particular shoutout must go to Sam R`s U12 team who were winners of the late competition beating Culver City, USA, 6-5 on penalties in the final.
What an amazing achievement! Well done, boys- you did DH proud.
At Prizegiving, we wished Paul Keane, our Head of Science, a long and happy retirement.
Headmaster, Matt Thomas said, `Paul’s infectious enthusiasm for his subject has inspired so many children throughout his time at DH; simply put, he is a truly outstanding teacher. He has truly fostered a joy and love for science, for everyone who has been lucky enough to have been taught by him over the past three decades.`
