WELCOME TO Dorset House School
PART OF THE LANCING COLLEGE FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
Welcome
At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.
Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.
Prospective parents often comment on the warmth of this school and if that is something which is important to your family, please call to make an appointment to visit us. We look forward to meeting you.

A brilliant afternoon of athletics at home last week for our Year 3 and 4 athletes.
We were delighted to welcome teams from @lancingprep.hove @pennthorpeschool @the_prebendal_school @windleshamhouse @hurst_prep and @seafordcollege for an afternoon of competition and team spirit.
A special well done to Okie, who came 1st in the 600m and then went on to be part of the winning relay team alongside Lottie, Clara and Mia.
Congratulations also to our overall team winners: Windlesham girls and Lancing Prep Hove boys.
Well done to all athletes who took part and represented their schools so well 👏

Our Year 3s recently enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the @lancing_college farm.
The children learnt about a variety of animals including rare breeds of sheep, pigs, chicks and even ferrets, who certainly made an impression with their very unique smell. They also explored the importance of conservation management and discovered how the farm is helping to re-introduce different species of birds, mammals and insects back onto the land.
As a special treat, Year 3 were invited to enjoy lunch at Lancing College, where they serve locally sourced food. With plenty to choose from, it was enjoyed by all!
To finish the day, each child received an activity booklet to take home, full of extra information, quizzes and activities.
The trip has inspired our next exciting mini project… watch this space!
Last week, our Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed their annual Leadership Day at @cobnoractivitiescentre in Chidham 🛶
From map-reading challenges and teamwork activities to canoeing along the Bosham Channel, the children showed fantastic resilience, communication and problem-solving skills throughout the day. One challenge saw the children working together to transport different sized balls across a field using guttering, encouraging them to use their initiative and teamwork to solve the problem.
They were also lucky enough to spot a grey heron sitting on the bridge ahead of them during their walk along the coastal path.
The children threw themselves into every activity, from games in the canoes to the moment they had all been waiting for, jumping into the water, despite the rain making an appearance!
A fun and memorable day for everyone involved. Thank you to the team at Cobnor for such a brilliant experience!
