WELCOME TO Dorset House School
PART OF THE LANCING COLLEGE FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
Welcome
At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.
Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.
Prospective parents often comment on the warmth of this school and if that is something which is important to your family, please call to make an appointment to visit us. We look forward to meeting you.

The best way to beat the heat? Swap Prep Sports Day for the Years 3–8 Swimming Galas!
There was fantastic House spirit, brilliant support from parents and plenty of poolside splashes as everyone enjoyed a morning of exciting racing. Our swimmers were outstanding, with some fantastic performances and a few school records broken. Well done to everyone who took part!
After a busy and very hot week, everyone headed home at lunchtime for a well-earned rest. With cooler weather on the way, we’re looking forward to Prep Sports Day on Monday!
Earlier this month, the whole school came together for our annual Charity Day, this year in support of @warchilduk
Our Pre-Prep pupils completed a 5km walk through Houghton Forest, taking time to explore nature and discover minibeasts along the way.
After their walk, they enjoyed a picnic lunch in the sunshine in the amphitheatre, followed by an afternoon of swimming.
Meanwhile, Years 4 to 8 took on an impressive 18km hike across the South Downs, showing fantastic determination and teamwork as they navigated using maps to find ribbons along the route.
Together, our school community raised an amazing £3,203 for War Child, a charity that works to protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children whose lives have been affected by war.
A huge thank you to Mrs Janet White for organising such a wonderful day and to everyone who donated and supported this fantastic cause.
